I have my work cut out for me...

Brandy sent me the granny squares that Kare won but was so sweet to gift to me. (You can't see me doing the happy dance right now) I just have to hook the squares together with a flat braid joint. Brandy's daughter Mary started it but once school began, she was strapped for time. She had a row and one square in the second row attached. I sat down on the sofa last night, intent on beginning...BUT, you can't watch a new series or even a new episode of your favorite show from last season and follow new directions at the same time. Nope, doesn't work for me. I finally put it down and said I would try it again another day. Updates to follow.

I must have been out of my mind!

What made me think I could do this?! By "this" I am referring to my plan to crochet something that I couldn't find a pattern for. I'm winging it. Yes, winging it. UGH! Well, either it will turn out or it won't. I'll post the results in a few months...when its done, if it ever is done. The jury is still out on that verdict. You should all be scared....very, very scared!

Little Mouse, Little Mouse, where have you been?

I should have posted this little guys yesterday but I was tired and decided he could wait. You can't tell in this picture but his little tail actually corkscrews. I wanted to give him reddish-pink eyes but I couldn't find any little buttons that color in my botton box. I know I should have some..but I got tired of digging throught everything.

I figured Pork Chop and Shelly needed a pal to hang around with. Next is a little bee and a birdie in honor of spring. I'm really having fun with these little guys and its good practice for me. Not bad for someone who couldn't even figure out how to read crochet direction a few months ago. It's a good thing that I don't give up very easily. So if you think you need a whole colony of mice in your house...here is the link to the directions. Actually, this would be great for cats to play with. You just have to stuff some cat nip in there. They'd go crazy.

Oink, Oink....

Lookie what I made. It took me forever. Plus I had to ask Brandy what one part of the directions meant and she was a great help, as always. I first saw this little guy over at Good Yarns. Sue made one with wings and I knew I had to try to make one. Except I left off the wings and placed his ears wider apart and added a tuft of hair between them. I made his snout a little different also and his legs are a little lumpy but HEY, he should be happy to have legs at all! I noticed that Sue also has a turtle on her site. I may have to see if I can make it. I know I want to try a little bunny and a carrot for Easter. I'm not saying I will make it for this Easter, maybe for next.

My First Granny Square...a work in progress.

OK, I searched for the easiest directions that I could find and I still struggled reading the stupid thing. I managed to do five rounds in an insane amount of time. Yea, it took me fore ever. I have never crocheted anything beyond a simple straight stitch. I kid you not! Anyway, I wanted to attempt being part of "The Divine Stitches of the Yarnie Sisterhood." They are making some granny squares, putting them all together in one afghan, then they will draw a name out of a hat and who ever gets pick, gets to keep the blanket. Nice huh! I'm actually kind of happy with myself. I managed to get this much done on my own. I did have some major problems but I managed to fix everything and now I just have to find out if it passes inspection. The other ladies are sooooo talented when it comes to this stuff. Mine may look like doggie poo next to theirs. I can't have that. That is why I think that I have to send it to one of them to see if it will pass quality control. I may just keep practicing and make one a blanket for my niece, Bunny Rue Rue. It would probably be done by the time she graduates from high school.
