My First Granny Square...a work in progress.

OK, I searched for the easiest directions that I could find and I still struggled reading the stupid thing. I managed to do five rounds in an insane amount of time. Yea, it took me fore ever. I have never crocheted anything beyond a simple straight stitch. I kid you not! Anyway, I wanted to attempt being part of "The Divine Stitches of the Yarnie Sisterhood." They are making some granny squares, putting them all together in one afghan, then they will draw a name out of a hat and who ever gets pick, gets to keep the blanket. Nice huh! I'm actually kind of happy with myself. I managed to get this much done on my own. I did have some major problems but I managed to fix everything and now I just have to find out if it passes inspection. The other ladies are sooooo talented when it comes to this stuff. Mine may look like doggie poo next to theirs. I can't have that. That is why I think that I have to send it to one of them to see if it will pass quality control. I may just keep practicing and make one a blanket for my niece, Bunny Rue Rue. It would probably be done by the time she graduates from high school. Posted by Picasa

Nett that is lookin AWESOME! I knew you could do it! If you can knit then you can crochet!! Grannies are the easiest things to make too.

That would be a fabulous gift for Bunny. Something she'd keep forever. Don't be so darn hard on yourself. If those old ladies don't like your square, then tell them this country girl will be glad to shove it down their throats.

I'm always looking for a good excuse to take off work.

Glad you can do it. When I was in school a couple years ago I tried to make a vest using the granny squares. Well I never finished it or tried to make anything since. I started with the bottom of the instuctions then I screwed up and nobody could help me. The teacher said she had never seen anybody do it backwards like that. It wasn't backwards to me.

O.K. Vic, was your teacher Poppe by any chance?? Everything was backwards to her.. I do remember you talking about this at some time or another and saying the teacher gave up on you because you were left handed and she couldn't figure out how you were doing what you did??? Backwards, maybe not, maybe just left handed and looked backwards to her....
Netter; From the pic. the square looks pretty darn good to me.. I'm by no means a perfectionist on crocheting anything, but from the pic it should pass quality control with out any problems... You are ALWAY so critical of yourself and what you do!!Remember the painting you did in school that was on display at the bank.. I thought it was great and so did lots of people that made comments to me...Lighten up girl.. Is it no wonder you have BP issues??!!! But if you want to make a test one, I'm sure Rue would enjoy getting one from you. It might end up being a "drag around blankie" but she'd like it anyway...

Ummm... old ladies and shoving it down our throats?! ROFL. Hey, we're into goodness, not violence!
I love your square! You did a great job, Netter. Your mom is right though, don't be so hard on yourself! Rue would love a blankie, I'm sure.

LOL, Sara, I don't think anyone has ever called me a hooker before.

Brandy~ Thanks, but you have no idea how long it took me to make that thing. lol, I was having issues with the directions. I need to keep making them so that I can do it faster.

Aunt Vickie~ You have always been a little backwards to us. We love you anyway.

Marianne~ LOL, thanks for having my back. Just for the record...they really are not old...lol, not much older than me anyway. The ones I know are pretty darn nice.

Mother! Why do you always bring up that painting! Yuck. I want it back by the way. I know you have it. Atleast send me a pic via email. I'll write a post about it.

Karen~ My mother is causing trouble on my site, left and right. I may have to ban her from commenting...lol. She'll never listen to me, its one of the few ways she can keep me in check. Anyway...i'm glad everyone approves. Now I have to practice at it so I can make the blocks quicker.

Netter, Brandy is going to post the pattern on Divine Stitches tonight, I think.

(And I guess with the blog name "Old Lady Kay" I have no reason to be offended. hahaha)

Have a super day. Happy Hooking!

OMG I love it: Netter is a Hooker. I'm picturing this year's birthday present: a T-shirt with letters on the front that read "Yup, I'm a Hooker (and pretty good at it too!)" and on the back it reads "Crocheting is so my thing" because I just know some stupid perverts would walk away thinking: A) "Wow, I've never seen anyone advertise that way" and B)" What the heck kind of deviant sex act or specialty is crocheting? I'll have to google it right away!"

Raine~ OMG, you are not having that shirt made for me, are you?! Don't you dare...don't you DARE. I mean it.

It is kind of funny though.

Oh man, Brandy, don't encourage her. I'm going to be walking around in a hooker T-shirt if this keeps up.

DH~ lol, all the cool kids are becoming hookers.

Hi Sue~ My comments have not always been showing up....we must have the same issue right now. What did we do to make Blogger mad at us?
