A holiday tradition..

I guess that is what you could call it. This year after all the food was stuffed in to their tummies, the guys crowd around the table and play cards. This year they were in Mom and Dad's basement shelling out the cash. I think one of the pots got up to $42.00. When I was a kid, you would find all the Uncles, some of the Aunts and once in a while a few cousins , along side Grandpa, betting their nickles and dimes. Years later, a few of those people have passed on but the game continues. They have my Godson in on the act now. He was asking if someone could float him a loan, Billy was thinking about going downtown to the ATM machine, yep, that was a serious card game. I stayed far, far away from that table...pausing only long enough to get a picture. All in all, it was kind of nice with the guys in the basement most of the time andmost of the ladies upstairs. Crystal spent most of her time next to her hubbie but the rest of us talked, giggled and picked on one another in the livingroom and dining room.
Later that evening when most of the gang had gone home, we dug out an old set of videos from the 80's and we laughed our butts off at the sight of Mike in his Mullet and the look of joy when he opened a Christmas present to discover a pair of spandex biker shorts. Mike always did like showing off his butt. We got to see and hear, Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Randy again. Man, do I miss them! We saw Shannon as a baby, crawling around on the floor and a little Denise carting Shannon around on her hip. It brought back a lot of great memories. That is what the Holidays are all about. Making new memories and remembering the old ones. I think I have delt my share, now its your turn.
