Movie Quote Meme.

Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
Go to imdb.com and find a quote from each movie.
Post them on your blog for everyone to guess.
Strike it out when someone guesses correctly and put who guessed it and the movie. No cheating!

I will give you a hint. These are some of my favorite movies and if you don't watch a lot of old movies...you'll probably be stumped.

1) "Miss Kelly, perhaps you'd like this flower. I seem to have misplaced my buttonhole." (Harvey~ Millie, aka Mom)

2) "I wouldn't give you two cents for all your fancy rules if, behind them, they didn't have a little bit of plain, ordinary, everyday kindness and a little looking out for the other fella, too."

3) "My father used to say that if we ever had the money you have, we would eat steak and ice cream three times everyday."

4) "Keep your pantyhose on. "

5) "Would you stop feeling sorry for yourself? It's bad for your complexion." ( Sixteen Candles ~Marianne)

6) "Esteem him? Like him? Use those insipid words again and I shall leave the room this instant." (Sense and Sensability ~Sue)

7)"He'll regret it till his dying day, if ever he lives that long." (The Quiet Man~KP)
8) "Now see here, if you are going to marry him on my money you are very much mistaken. I don't want another lunatic in the family I have lunatic enough all ready."

9) "I always thought it was a ridiculous name for a prison. Sing Sing, I mean. Sounds more like it should be an opera house or something." (Breakfast at Tiffany's ~Kim "Idaho Gal")

10) "Boys are always guilty of something nasty. What could it be this time, I wonder?"

It's Quilting Time People!

Oh yes, it seems as though I'm learning a new skill. Guess what! It's going to be an expensive addiction too, I can tell already. I have my strips done for half the blocks of my Double Irish Chain Quilt. All I have to do now is use my handy old rotary cutter and turn them into mini 2 1/2 inch strips. No problem. I think this weekend I'm going to cut and sew and cut again the strips for the larger blocks that I have to make. I'm waiting until I'm in class to sew everything together in blocks though. Even at this rate, I'm ahead of the other gals in my class. One of them was having a terrible time cutting strips. It's not that hard...maybe she's a spaz. Spaz or not, shes a sweet friendly lady with a great sense of humor about her issues with the rotary cutter. I told her it was like cutting pizza and she said she uses scissors to cut pizza. I must have looked at her funny because she started laughing and I said, "There is no hope for you. You better pack up and go home." That really cracked her up. I love people that you can joke around with and the get that its a joke.
I'm hauling my sewing machine to class next Monday because I really cant stand the machine that I had to use at my station on Wens. Oh Dear Lord that machine was bad. It had one speed, which was super fast. I'd have to push the foot thingy all the way down before it would go and then it WWWEEEEENNNNNNTTTTT so darn fast I almost threw my shoulder out. Plus I don't want to look like an idiot because I can't thread that machine. I only know how to thread the one that my Mom bought me because its super easy. I think its the machine featured in the Idiots guide to Sewing machines...lol, just kidding.
I'll post more pics as my quilt evolves.

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

"Brother Cuthburt was usually to be found here, for his job did not leave him much time for services, which suited his inclination: he was a clever down-to-earth fellow with little interest in the spiritual life. The cellarer was the material counterpart of the sacrist: Cuthburt had to provide for all the monks' practical needs, gathering in the produce of the monastery's farms and granges and going to market to buy what the monks and their employees could not provide themselves. The job required careful forethought and calculation."

Tagging Five:
Mandy
Cindy
Kare
Andi
D.H.

Oh and by the way, this is probably the best book I have read in years. I love it. Warning: It's a long book. We are talking 973 pages in total. I'm half way through it.

Guess Who's 50 today...followed by sad news...

Uncle Lonnie, that's who...and he still looks the same. Giggle, snort, lol. Aunt Vickie and I put an ad in the paper for his birthday. It contained this picture. Oh, Dear Lord, he looked like a dork...kind of still does. I say that with nothing but love. His wife, otherwise known as my Aunt Deanna....well she wasn't a happy camper when I spoke to her last night. Nope. She has caught a lot of hell over that picture in the paper...even though the ad said that it was placed by Lonnies "younger sister", cough, cough....RRRRRighttt, whatever..."and her partner in crime...Don't know? Just A.S.K." So basically, that tells you it was Vickie and his little ole niece. My initials spell ASK. Anyway, he thinks she gave us that picture. I told her that for the right amount of money we might actually tell him that she had nothing to do with it. I won't do it for free...hell, it cost us to put the ad in the paper. I'll tell the truth if it means I will get my investment back. Yes, I am evil that way. I've already been told that I better watch my back. I'm not to worried. I have 26 months before I turn 40 and I told her I was leaving the country for that birthday. I don't think she believed me. It's so true....I want to take a trip. I'm thinking France in the spring would be nice...or maybe I will go tropical. Anyone that wants to help me celebrate my big 40th can. Start saving money now. I'll let you know where we can meet up. Hmmm...maybe Egypt. I could blow out a candle on a cupcake from the base of a pyramid. That could be cool, unless its windy. I don't want to eat a cupcake that has sand on it.

On a sadder note, Grandma Martha passed away yesterday morning. I fly home on Wensday for the funeral on Friday. It was time for her to pass. She was fighting it but her condition was pretty bad. She couldn't really communicate anymore, she had trouble eating and drinking. Her quality of life was a big fat zero, she was all skin and bones...her skin was so thin. Yep, she was 92 and would have been 93 in April. That's a nice long life. I have some fun stories to share about her...but I can't now. I have to much to do to get ready for my flight home.

It's her birthday...

...and she'll cry if she wants to. My cousins daughter is celebrating her birthday today. Yep, she's 16. I sent her present already and its been killing her not to open in. Ah, yes, but she knows that I am evil that way. I actually teased her and said I was going to post an old pic of her. I would have but she got lucky. Our scanner isn't working right. Talk about great birthday gifts...lol, she should be excited about that.

I need help..

I am so sick of the same old supper, night after night. Does anyone have any good recipes that they could send my way? I'm talking about stuff you have made many times and loved. Yeah, don't you dare try to pass off something that you found online and have not tried. I don't want to be your test monkey. I need to shake things up around here or I'm going to loose my mind.

Where have I been? Well...

I have had a bit of the Winter Blahs. Don't worry, its not contagious. However, just incase...I decided to make sure I wasn't passing them on to anyone else by not blogging. I just didn't feel that I had anything to say. Well, not anything positive or funny. It seems like the last month and a half have been full of sad things, not just for me but for some of my dearest friends as well. It's hard to be happy go lucky when your friends are upset and hurting. I just needed a break to catch my second wind.
I was told today that I need to blog. I think I do too. I'm going to start posting again. I'm also going to start crafting again. I need to get use to the fact that Spring isn't going to be here for a while and I'm going to have to make my own warm weather feeling. I may have to hit the booze and sit to close to my table lamp. Hey, those suckers build up some heat.

Consider yourself warned!

Netter is back!

Pray for my Aunts speedy recovery....

Dear Lord, I swear! I was just thinking the other night, how quiet things have been in our family. Now this happens. Some guys robbed the Pizza Hut that my Aunt works at. They went in 10 minutes before closing with guns and ski masks. ACtually, you can read the story in the paper by clicking on the hyperlink above.

There were three gals working. A young high school girl, my Aunt and the manager who happens to be the mother of one of my h.s. classmates. My Aunt and the Manager are in the hospital...beaten to a pulp. The doctors are waiting for the swelling to go down to see how badly the bone around her eye socket is broken. Her nose is a mess too. My cousin told me that her Mom just remembers her head being slammed against the ceramic tile floor over and over again.

Why the hell those jerks had to beat them is beyond me. They handed over the money right away and they did everything they were told to do. They laid down on the floor when they said to...grrr. Plus, It sounds like they walked into it thinking only one person was there. My Aunts car was parked there, but the other ladies were dropped off. I'd put good cash on it that it was a bunch of dumb ass druggies. I hope they catch them and lock their butts up. Personally, I think they need to be locked away for life...but they have to catch them first.

Linda will be in the hospital for a few days. She doesn't have health insurance right now...Does workmans comp cover being beaten by theives while you are on the clock? I sure hope so.

I just hate that this has happened to her. She's had a tough life. Why is it that it seems to pour on some people and while others live charmed lives. It bites. It really does.
